The Hunger Ship

While scavenging in the ruins of Sanwater, the posse was attacked by a bunch of “starvies” – lean, emaciated looking humanoids with an unearthly, keening wail. A journal found in the office of a local merchant indicated that a ship had crashed into the mesa immediately before the attack, but they couldn’t find the wreckage.

Later, when Amos asked around about the mysterious ship at the Lost Angels dockyards, a Rockies representative mentioned that they’d lost several boomtowns to these “attacks” over the past many years, all of them in the southern maze. Apparently the Rockies had never seen fit to launch an investigation, but had heard whispers and rumors amongst the Chinese population in Shan Fan.

Shortly thereafter, Whiskey questioned a Chinese miner newly arrived from Shan Fan, who informed her that the attacks were perpetrated by the “Hunger Spirit,” who travelled to the Maze from China by possessing a crew member of the now wrecked ship. He didn’t know much more than that, but the bartender pointed the posse towards the elder monks at The 37th Chamber… if they can find it.
